Delayed refund checks force hard times on students

Students attending UNA this fall are facing a problem they're not used to having: financial aid refund checks, usually available on the first day of classes, are being delayed. An e-mail distributed several times this summer warns that the delays could last up to two weeks.

New Mane Card program provides financial advantages to students

UNA has made some changes to the Mane Card system, including new identification numbers for all students. Students will now be able to add money to their Mane Cards and use it like a debit card at any location that accepts the Mane Card. "The concept isn't new," Karen Kennedy, manager of the Mane Card program.

You did not call the wrong department. Organizational changes are in the air. Departments on campus are reinventing their titles and/or roles: many to be more embracing and to focus on student's needs, while others to rebrand themselves for effective use.

UNA begins themed Dedicated Semesters

UNA is launching a campus-wide Dedicated Semester program in which a general theme is applied not only to class, but to the university as a whole. The theme chosen for Fall 2008 is "Peace and War." The program was introduced by English professor Dr. Kelly Latchaw.

BEIJING (AP) - Martial arts student Cheng Jianghua only saw the army barracks he stayed in and the stadium where he performed at the spectacular Olympics opening ceremony. But his sacrifices were minor - other performers were injured, fainted from heatstroke or forced to wear adult diapers so the show could go on.
