Lions pitch second straight shutout,

Harding's last chance to put a score on the board against UNA vanished after throwing an interception in the end zone with less than a minute in last Thursday night's game. As a result, the Lions had their second consecutive shutout for the first time since 1995.

UNA defense ready for Tech.

With starting quarterback A.J. Milwee, running back David McCants, receivers Rocky Coleman and Joemal Campbell and a wealth of talented offensive linemen back from last season, the University of North Alabama offense garnered most of the attention heading into the 2008 season.

Lions to host Division II regional golf tournament

For the third time in the last seven years the University of North Alabama has been selected to host the NCAA Division II Southeast Golf Super Regional in 2009. UNA hosted the 2003 super regional at Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club in Killen and claimed its second straight NCAA regional crown.

Soccer team shut out

Georgia College outshot UNA 27-3 on Sunday and dropped the Lions 5-0 in women's soccer. It was the second straight loss and shutout for UNA after the Lions had picked up three straight wins. UNA is now 5-6 overall. North Alabama trailed 4-0 at the half and Georgia College managed to add an additional goal in the final 45 minutes.

Miskos advances at ITA South Regional Tournament

Jan Miskos was North Alabama's lone representative in the quarterfinals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) South Regional Tournament this weekend on the campus of Valdosta State University. The Lions went 7-1 on the opening day and sent four players to the Round of 32 before Miskos emerged as the last UNA player standing in singles competition.
