The Office of Diversity and Institutional Equality hosts Culture Fest

The Office of Diversity and Institutional Equality hosted the sixth annual Culture Fest Sept. 25 at the Baptist Campus Ministry building.

Culture Fest is an event that promotes understanding, diversity and inclusion. The event included music from DJ Casper, performances by individuals from different cultures and free food.

“Culture Fest is an amazing event that helps myself and others learn about different cultures,” said sophomore Nayjeelah Hall, a volunteer for Culture Fest.

Due to rain conditions, the event moved from the Memorial Amphitheater to the BCM.

Over 200 people were in attendance to the event. Several Florence restaurants offered free samples of a wide variety of different food for students and attendees.

“This event has good food, music, chances to win free things, and just so much culture to indulge in for every one,” Hall said. “Culture Fest is one of my favorite events that we have available on campus.”

Students that attended had a chance to win a $500 scholarship. The first 150 people that arrived to the event received a free t-shirt.
